However, I fail to see how actually visiting a place confirms your ability to grasp the situation within. Maybe it's splitting hairs but I don't think you have to actually travel to Africa to understand some of the terrible things that are going on there. You don't actually have to go to South America to understand what the politics of the area are. It's a nice dig from McCain but I don't think it's particularly relevant.
